It all began when Carl Heinrich Wente left his father’s farm in Germany in the 1870’s and immigrated to America. He brought more than a knack for innovation. In 1883, C.H. Wente turned his dream into reality by purchasing his own forty-seven acres of land in California’s Livermore Valley, just east of the San Francisco Bay...and the Wente family vineyard was born.
Wente Vineyards’ distinguished Vineyard Reserve and Vineyard Selection wine programs have evolved and matured from their origin over a century ago. Today, the Wente family remains focused on their enduring winemaking philosophy of creating wines that reflect their origins and the unique qualities of the Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay and Arroyo Seco, Monterey appellations. |
