Chef Tony Bettencourt

Chef Tony Bettencourt has had a love affair with food since a very early age. That love resulted in his enrollment in the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in Cambridge, MA. While there he earned the prestigious Julia Child Award for excellence in cooking and academics. Fresh from a tour of Italy, Chef Tony hopes to combine his love of cooking with the clear, clean flavors of classic Tuscan cuisine.

Tony was mentored by Amanda Lydon at Metro Brasserie in Cambridge where he then went on to become executive chef. Following Metro, he joined chefs Lydon and Susan Regis to be part of the culinary dream team that launched the award winning Upstairs on the Square in Cambridge's Harvard Square.

While executive sous chef at Upstairs on the Square, the new fine dining restaurant was chosen as one of Food & Wine Magazine's Top Ten New Restaurants and by Gourmet Magazine's Guide to America's Best Restaurants as a Neighborhood Gem. It was also recognized for its food, décor and wine program by Bon Appetit, Travel & Leisure, Boston Magazine and other publications.
