ORIGIN OF JAPANESE HOT POT
When Mongolian warriors roamed the ancient lands, they satisfied their
hungry appetite by filling a large boiling pot with a variety of poultry and vegetables.
No wonder these fearless warriors propelled to create Genghis Khans vast Empire!
As time passed, Japanese successfully developed their own special hot pot meal
called Shabu-Shabu. Alongside thinly sliced beef and assorted vegetables, delicious
goma and ponzu sauces are added to heighten taste of the cooked food. Traditionally,
Shabu-Shabu is the meal of choice for the aristocracy and the affluent. Today,
Swish is introducing this delicacy to Vegas at prices everyone can afford. Enjoy!
Sukiyaki is another Japanese hot pot meal that is fast becoming an all time
American favorite! While Shabu-Shabu draws comparison to fondue, Sukiyaki is
closer to beef stir-fry with broth, Main ingredient is thinly sliced beef and vegetable
simmered in hot pan with sweet Sukiyaki sauce. The Yaki means to sauté or to grill.
It is a perfect dish for a fun, delicious meal!
Shabu-Shabu translated into English is Swish-Swish.
To Japanese ears, the sound of thinly sliced beef being swirled around
in hot broth sounded like Shabu-Shabu.
Now, anyone in the mood for a little swishing?
