'Always packed' with 'yuppies grazing on organic fare',
this West Side Eclectic 'health food mecca' turns out dishes
so good they 'surprise the non-granola types', despite
'cramped', 'loud' quarters, the'innovative flavors will make
you feel happy' and 'virtuous'."

TIME OUT
MAGAZINE 1998-READER'S CHOICE
EATING & DRINKING AWARD
Winner of Best Health Food/Vegetarian Restaurant
TIME MAGAZINE
November 8, 1999 Executive chef
and co-owner, Louis Lanza, was chosen by Time to
envision the future and prepare a meatless, dairy-free meal
for 2025 that would be good for the body -and planet.
"In his tasty menu, liver pate gives way to lentil pate, steak is
replaced by tofu cutlet and banana-and-ice cream dessert is
made with rice milk instead of cow's milk. Lanza's critter-free
meal has less than half the calories of a meat-heavy dinner
and a third of the total fat. And lest you think meat-free means
protein free eating, the percentage of calories from protein
in Lanza's meal is the same as in a steak dinner. If the future can
be made this appetizing, even a T-bone palate could learn
to be happy in a tofu world." Jeffrey Kluger
