Japanese Dining - Fun Facts

* It is customary to say ITADAKIMASU before eating and GOCHISO SAMA DESHITA to the host and restaurant staff when leaving.

* The rice or the soup is eaten by picking the relevant bowl up with the left hand and using chopsticks with the right, or vice-versa if you are a lefty.

* Chopsticks are never left sticking vertically into rice.

* It is customary to eat rice to the last grain because a Japanese tradition says that one grain of rice contains seven gods of fortune.

* Noodles are slurped to show appreciation to the chef.

SHABU-SHABU / SUKIYAKI  - HOT POT DINING 
Shabu-shabu is served with healthy seaweed broth alongside citrus-based
ponzu sauce and sesame-based goma sauce. Sukiyaki is cooked in sweet homemade sauce and raw egg is provided as an optional dipping sauce. 

All Shabu-shabu and Sukiyaki meals come with a plate of vegetables, appropriate sauces, noodles, rice and a plate of meats (8 oz).
